Aligned with the Experts: How Coterie Elevates Luxury Senior Living Through Creative Collaborations

As one of the premier luxury senior living providers in the country, Coterie is always looking for ways to enhance the experiences of our residents. Coterie aligns with companies, organizations, and individuals who share this commitment to create an unmatched luxury senior living environment – from award-winning interior design to industry-best cuisine to senior-centered fitness.

Award-Winning Architecture and Design

Coterie’s Cathedral Hill and Hudson Yards locations were designed by Handel Architects, the world-class architecture firm behind The Essex at Essex Crossing in Manhattan, the Four Seasons Private Residences in San Francisco, and the National September 11 Memorial. Each Coterie location has been specially designed to showcase luxury in ways that seamlessly and gracefully align with the surrounding neighborhood.

For elegantly comfortable interiors, Coterie tapped renowned international design firm MAWD, whose other NYC-based projects include The Set and Lantern House. The result is a landmark in luxury assisted living residences with a priority placed on socially engaging spaces, upscale furnishings and décor, and amenities worthy of a five-star hotel.

To complement MAWD’s award-winning design with a broad cross-section of contemporary art, Coterie sought out the expertise of some of the most distinguished art advisors and galleries in the world, including Debra Bosniak Art Advisory and Sugarlift. The result is a thoughtfully designed luxury living space full of vividly original images and sculptures for residents to enjoy.

Personalized Wellness and Fitness Regimens

As we age, wellness and physical fitness only become more important to our overall health. Coterie’s collaboration with Mayo Clinic brings wellness coaching services to residents, enabling them to create a personal wellness plan tailored to their individual needs and goals.

Coterie Hudson Yards has also teamed up with Fox Rehabilitation to ensure residents have the personalized physical, occupational, and speech therapy services they need.

Coterie works with EmpowerMe a wellness lifestyle management organization that specializes in creating top-tier fitness programs for older adults. With Elevation Health’s guidance, Coterie offers exercise regimens and fitness classes that emphasize enhanced cardiovascular health, improved strength and balance, increased flexibility and mobility, and various mental and emotional benefits.

Pairing with innovative fitness companies like FitSprings provides Coterie Cathedral Hill residents with classes tailored to senior fitness needs, led by instructors with years of experience working with older adults.

State-of-the-Art Technology

Coterie has embraced the many benefits technology offers by weaving it into the fabric of the communities.

Every Coterie residence incorporates Amazon’s smart home technology, providing unmatched convenience and innovative options for engagement. Coterie’s proprietary Smart Home System lets residents control lighting, temperature, and other household functions through voice commands. The system features the Amazon Echo Show with Alexa.

Each resident receives a CarePredict wristband, which monitors fall risks and allows two-way communication with care staff in the event of an emergency. The wristbands also allow easy, no-fuss access to residences with the wave of a hand.

Elevated Dining Experiences

At the heart of Coterie’s culinary program is a close collaboration between Coterie’s Executive Chef Chad Welch and the Mayo Clinic’s Healthy Living Program, which helps create menus filled with delicious gourmet offerings that cater to the nutritional needs of older adults.

What’s more, Coterie’s relationships with nearby restaurants and vendors enable the culinary teams to craft menus around fresh, local ingredients. Coterie Hudson Yards is located directly upstairs from Greywind, the sleekly rustic restaurant from James Beard-recognized chef Dan Kluger. The Bakery at Greywind provides Coterie’s kitchen with fresh breads, pastries, and desserts every day, including house-made granola, coffee cake, and brioche buns.

Coterie Cathedral Hill sources ingredients from some of the finest farms and farmers markets in the San Francisco area, including Superior Farms and Lonely Mountain Farm, while Coterie Hudson Yards procures fresh fruits and vegetables from local suppliers like Upstate Farms.

Coterie’s close relationship with Master Sommelier Emmanuel Kemiji provides residents with an extensive collection of vintage wines curated to satisfy both seasoned palates and occasional “one glass with dinner” drinkers.

Enlightening Engagement

Coterie collaborates with leading cultural institutions to offer residents access to programs that are as exciting as they are educational.

At both Coterie locations, McNally Jackson has curated collections of more than 800 books on a wide variety of topics that reflect Coterie’s commitment to lifelong learning and the cognitive health benefits it promotes. At Coterie Cathedral Hill, monthly book club selections are chosen by McNally Jackson’s curator based on feedback and suggestions from Coterie’s residents.

Coterie Hudson Yards residents enjoy membership to 92NY, a global institution featuring The Himan Brown Program – 92NY’s community for individuals age 60+. The Himan Brown Program sets the standard for community engagement and enrichment with sophisticated lectures, classes, and discussion groups led by university professors, published authors, professional artists, and experts on every topic imaginable. Coterie Hudson Yards’ all-inclusive membership provides residents with access to on-site and online programs every week, including college-level lectures, interactive classes and discussion groups, writing workshops, studio art, and fitness classes.

Memory Care That Makes Every Moment Count

For more than 40 years, NYC-based CaringKind has been at the forefront of Alzheimer’s and dementia care, and their forward-thinking collaboration with Coterie Hudson Yards enhances the high-quality support residents receive. CaringKind provides specialized training for Coterie’s caregivers, emphasizing the unique and complex ways that dementia impacts each resident. CaringKind provides coaching and counseling for family members, including methods of coping and self-care.

Additionally, Coterie’s memory care culinary program is developed in coordination with Mayo Clinic to emphasize ingredients that nourish the brain and slow cognitive decline. CaringKind-trained staff also sit with residents at meals and model healthy dietary behaviors.

Building a Future Together

Moving forward, Coterie's philosophy of building strong alliances will help ensure an exceptional experience for residents for years to come. By focusing on innovation and collaboration, whether in developing new communities or enhancing existing ones, Coterie is committed to providing residents with an exceptional standard of luxury senior assisted living.
