“Leading the Coterie Cathedral Hill luxury community is like a dream come true for me,” said Michael Pounsberry on his new role as General Manager. “We are bringing the finest in luxury living and lifestyle to San Francisco on a level that hasn't been reached before.”
Michael’s leadership is the culmination of a distinguished career in luxury hotel and hospitality management. His arc began in Australia, where he gained a decade of experience in fine cuisine and service while completing his education at Le Cordon Bleu and Western Sydney College.
From there, he moved to Miami to pursue his passion for premium hospitality. Michael became one of the youngest executives at the Biltmore Hotel, a Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) property. Under his management, the Biltmore earned accolades such as the AAA Five Diamond designation and Zagat’s top restaurant honor, as well as being named the Best Sunday Champagne Brunch for seven straight years by the Miami Herald.
He continued his education at Cornell University, expanding his expertise in hospitality revenue management and earning several certifications in hotel management and senior living, including a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) administrator certification.
Most recently, he served as the regional director for GNI Management, Inc., leading hotel acquisitions in Northern California and the Bay Area. Michael’s wealth of expertise makes him a natural leader for Coterie Cathedral Hill. His attentiveness and depth of knowledge will enhance the experience of every resident.
“Residents will enjoy the five-star amenities, immersive cultural experiences, wellness programs, and state-of-the-art technology that will make these years the best years of their lives,” Michael said. “It’s what I’ve trained for my entire career to deliver every day.”
